Sue Smith

In memory of my son David, I'm supporting children and young people with disabilities in North Yorkshire

Ryedale Special Families is an independent charity based in Malton. Founded in the 1990s by a small group of parents with disabled children, it’s grown significantly over the past 25 years, and today, provides care and support for more than 400 families throughout the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire.

Providing a wide range of services including information, advocacy, flexible one-to-one care, social groups and family activities, it offers a vital support network to help families and young people with all kinds of disabilities. The charity depends heavily on fundraising to finance the work it does, and the Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge is an important part of this picture. The loss of income from the cancellation of this year's Yorkshire Wolds Cycle Challenge is a devastating blow to the charity and the families it supports and money raised from this Virtual 2020 event will make a huge difference to them.

FINISHED! 😀🚴‍♀️💪

Friday 31st Jul
9 miles on Wednesday evening and then final ride today means I've finished !! Chose the "sweetheart loop" for final ride ❤. Bit tough climbing out of Newbridge in the hot weather today! 😓😂

24 miles to go...

Tuesday 28th Jul
A pleasant evening ride on Sunday and then a breezy one today to Thorton Dale on backroad. Tried to walk across A169 to join Kirby Misperton road and bridleway through Lendales farm for a nice loop...but gave up and retraced steps. Roads were a lot quieter during lockdown! 8 miles +17 miles = 25. So 49-25 = 24 to go by end of Friday 😀🚴‍♀️xx
PS Well done Ruth for doing the Thornton one with me on the old bike !!!

Saturday 25th Jul
A little delay in my challenge recently...puncture on back wheel, probably glass on Potter Hill😐.

3 rides to update...2 evening rides around Pickering's Lanes and a flat but breezy one this morning around Kirkby Misperton and Ryton.

Added up these are 38 miles 👍😀🚴‍♀️. So 49 miles
to go by end of this Friday....

Ride 4

Sunday 12th Jul
Pleasant summer evening pootling along the lanes around Pickering.

Ride 3.

Wednesday 8th Jul
Ride 3 17.7 miles today, 96 to go...🚴‍♀️😃

2nd ride

Tuesday 7th Jul
Evening ride, 7.5 miles to chip away at target...113.65 to go 😃🚴‍♀️

First ride

Saturday 4th Jul
22.85 miles on first ride...121.15 to go 🚴‍♀️😃
Friday 3rd Jul
I’ve changed my profile pics...the previous ones may have given the wrong impression, although actually I don’t think many would have mistaken the fit young cyclist for me!!

Starting tomorrow....
